You No Fit Touch Am (Medlar Remix Radio) [feat. Medlar]
A 1 track house single (4m 34s) — released April 28th 2023 on Wah Wah 45s
Eight years on from his debut release on Wah Wah 45s, the label revisits and celebrates Afrobeat AmbassadorDele Sosimi. Having grown up in Nigeria under the tutelage ofFela Kuti, playing music with his son Femi, and going on to become musical director of Fela'sEgypt 80band, Dele's signing to Wah Wah 45s in 2015 was always going to be an auspicious moment for the label.
The debut album, assuredly entitledYou No Fit Touch Am, harked back to the days of Fela's original recordings, featuring as it did politically focused outings likeNa My Turnand deeper, more spiritual moments such aSanctuary, as well as uplifting Afrobeat bangers like the title track and the hugely popularE Go Betta.
The album received a rousing reception withBuzzcalling it "An Afrobeat masterclass" andOkay Africasaying that the compositions "are steeped in socio-political messages and showcase classic 1970s Lagos songwriting."
Of the many remixes and dubs the album spawned, a standout wasMedlar's Afro-disco-house re-work of the title track which led to the pair working on their synth heavy duo project, and remains one of the most popular remixes on the label. To celebrate the re-issue of the original album, as well as a deluxe digital version, this classic remix is seeing the light of day once again - this time via a very hand radio version that pulls no punches!
This celebratory 27 track compilation not only includes the original album, dub versions and all previously released remixes and edits, as well as thisexclusive radio editofMedlar's remix, a brand new remix ofNa My Turnby seasoned UK producerRicardo, and a deep house mix ofE Go Bettaby South African producerRyan Murgatroyd, previously unreleased on the label.
It's the perfect moment to celebrate Dele's solo work so far as he embarks on more collaborations, always moving forward, continuing to be a shining light of the Wah Wah 45s family and one of the last remaining legends of the Afrobeat scene.
