A Wah Wah Christmas (EP)
A 3 track soul ep (11m 18s) — released December 14th 2009 on Wah Wah 45s
Wah Wah 45s are bringing you three very special Christmas gifts this year. Songs that come straight from the heart, without any tongue in any cheek – this is pure seasonal joy.
First up, Scrimshire hooks up with our very own Stac, and long-time cohort Rob Hynd, to produce a stunning version of Rotary Connection's "Christmas Love". It's Argo Cadet meets pure Motown magic and Scrimshire comes off like a latter day Charles Stepney with one of his finest works to date. Check also the impressive guitar work by band member Ben Thackray. A festive anthem is born.
Newcomers to the Wah Wah fold, The Annabel (Lee) Trio, bring us one of the most beautiful and classic Christmas treats in the shape of the Charlie Brown favourite "Christmas Time Is Here". Annabel's voice soars over this feel good holiday ballad, with Richard E's sensitive guitar and the magnificent Jessica Lauren on keys and percussion adding to the spellbinding nature of this tune.
Finally, Wah Wah favourite Stac pops up once again covering James Brown's "Merry Christmas Baby" and giving it a flavour all her own. With Scrimshire on guitar, Stac pulls off the Christmas blues with a rough yet soulfully sweet feel. The perfect finale to a bundle of Christmas bliss on Wah Wah 45s.
There'll be more next year, but in the meantime grab yourself a stocking load of Wah Wah love this Christmas!
