Barefoot in Your Kitchen
A 13 track blue-eyed soul album (44m 23s) — released May 7th 2012 on Wah Wah 45s
Brand new Wah Wah signing Bev Lee Harling's love of music and cooking combine where chopping boards, cheese graters, glass orchestras, colanders and a dog bowl are used along with music boxes, a musical saw and a 1950's typewriter to create a musical, organic experience.
Sometimes dark, sometimes frivolous, always engaging and human spirited, her songs' common bond being the luscious, pure vocals that thread their way through the highs and lows of life experience. Bev's debut album is filled to the brim with immediate, catchy and yet unconventional recordings.
Cuts like the forthcoming single, "Post" and her gorgeous cover of The Police's "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic" have huge crossover pop potential, whereas elsewhere Bev takes in bossa nova on "Private Life of a Puppet", darker electronics on "Tired of the City" and a little southern drawl on the very tongue in cheek "Devil's Got Your Tail". Add to that the use of found sounds and household junk on "Robots and Angels" and the title track, and you've got something very special indeed, all hung together by Bev's sweet vocals and German producer Rogall's cunning production techniques. We're very excited about this young lady. Make sure you check her out live!
